Four Earn All State Honors in Volleyball at Gaston Day.

The Gaston Day Spartans won Saturday’s NCISAA 2A Volleyball Playoff match versus Hickory Christian Academy by a score of 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-22). At the end of the playoff match, four starters were awarded All State Honors in the state of North Carolina for the NCISAA in volleyball. From left to right, Aly DeFrancisco with 356 digs as libero, Sidney Bing with 900 assists (#1 in the state of NC), Drew Brown 328 kills (#22 in the state of NC), and LauraLee Hurst with 415 kills (#7 in the state of NC).

Gaston Day, 31 & 5 is ranked 352nd nationally out of over 8,000 high schools in the nation, 12th in the state of North Carolina and 1st in their conference. Gaston moves on to the semi final round Tuesday October 22nd versus Wayne Country Day, 22 & 3 and ranked 1,218 nationally, 44th in the state of North Carolina and 3rd in the NCISAA. If Gaston Day wins Tuesday, they’ll go on to the state championship title for a 2nd year in a row. Last year Gaston Day was runner up by losing to Freedom Christian 3-0 in the state finals.
